Surgical Body Procedures

Liposuction

Liposuction is a great option for women and men who have unwanted fat in certain areas. This procedure will minimize and shape your contours. Through our advanced liposuction techniques, our staff can expertly and easily enhance the appearance of almost any part of your body.

Liposuction will not tighten muscle or skin, nor is it a method for overall weight loss. The procedure is designed to target localized pockets of fat that are particularly resistant to diet and exercise. Lipo works best for patients with good skin tone and elasticity who are at their ideal weight.

Your surgeon will make little incisions in the target areas and then inject a solution to limit blood loss and reduce discomfort. A thin, hollow tube, called a cannula, will be inserted into the fat to break it up and then vacuum it out. Because of the small size of the incisions, our patients experience minimal scarring.

Facial Fat Grafting

Facial Fat Grafting provides a natural solution for reshaping your face. The procedure gives your face to a fuller more youthful appearance. The procedure works by taking fat from another part of your body (usually the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks) and injecting it into the area of your face that you want to enhance.

One of the benefits of facial fat grafting is its versatility. It can be used on various parts of your face to improve contour and overall symmetry. Some of the more common concerns for our patients include:

  • Thing or gaunt face
  • Long face
  • Mid-face flatness
  • Plump face
  • Bottom-heavy or jowly face
  • Asymmetrical face

Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction)

Gynecomastia is a condition, which is largely genetic and can be a source of embarrassment for many men. An estimated 50 percent of men, especially over the age of 50, will experience an abundance of tissue in the breast area, referred to as gynecomastia. Patients who have gynecomastia will experience at least one of the following in on or both breasts:

  • Excess localized fat
  • Excess glandular tissue development
  • A combination of both excess fat and glandular tissue

Tummy Tuck (Abnominoplasty)

A tummy tuck can help firm and slim the stomach area by removing excess hanging skin and repairing loose or stretched muscle. We have found that tummy tuck is a particularly popular procedure for patients who desire a sleeker belly but don’t necessarily need or want liposuction. The common caused for a lumpy or slack belly include:

  • Aging
  • Significant weight fluctuations
  • Heredity
  • Pregnancy
  • Prior surgery

When you undergo a full abdominoplasty, your surgeon generally start with an incision that runs between the pubic hairline and the navel. The shape and length of the cut will depend on how much alteration is necessary. Your weakened abdominal muscles are repaired and excess fat, tissue and skin is removed. You may require a second incision around the navel if extra skin needs to be taken from the upper abdomen.

Breast Augmentation (Mammoplasty)

Breast Augmentation patients can achieve their body image goals with a surgical procedure that enhances both the size and shape of their breast. Also known as breast implants, breast augmentation can also improve breast volume after pregnancy, balance asymmetrical breasts or rebuild a breast that was damaged by disease or injury.

Some of the common criteria for our mammoplasty patients include good health, realistic expectations and breasts that are fully developed. Women who are considering breast implants are typically bothered by breasts that:

  • Are too small
  • Have lost shape because of aging, pregnancy or weight loss
  • Are uneven in size or shape
  • Have failed to develop normally

The most important aspect of breast augmentation is the selection of a breast implant. Our experienced staff understands that you want a bust line that looks natural and fits the frame of your body. We help you choose the correct size, shape and texture of breast implants, so you can attain your objectives. Once the breast implants are chosen, it will be time for the actual surgery. Your breast augmentation with us will generally take about one to two hours. The surgeon will usually begin with one of these common incisions:

  • Inframammary (near the crease, just under the breast)
  • Axillary (in the underarm area)
  • Periarerolar (at the edge of the areola, the pigmented skin around the nipple)

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A breast lift offers women the chance to restore their bust line to a more youthful shape. As you age, your breasts begin to sag and your skin loses it’s elasticity. Having children or shredding a large amount of weight can also wear on your breasts, causing them to diminish in volume or tone.

There are many reasons why women opt for a breast lift. Of the patients who visit us, the majority are concerned about:

  • Sagging breasts that have lost shape and volume
  • Breasts that are flat, elongated or pendulous
  • Nipples that fall below the breast crease
  • Nipples and areolas that point downward
  • Stretched skin and enlarged areolas
  • One breast that is lower than the other

There are three common breast lift incisions used by our surgical staff. They are:

  • Around the areola
  • Around the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease
  • Around the areola, vertically down from the breast crease and then horizontally along the breast increase

Buttock Enhancement

Buttock Enhancement can be performed as a solo surgery or as part of the total body lift. The procedure improves the contour of the buttock for a “perkier”, more youthful appearance.

Because buttock enhancement encompasses various techniques, there is a good chance that you will be suitable for the procedure. For patients who are overweight, fat injections, also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift, may be the most appropriate option. Thinner individuals may get the best results from implants or butt lift surgery. Most of our patients have the following concerns:

  • Unhappy with the size and shape
  • Poor skin tone
  • Loose or excess skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Cellulite

If your buttocks are very large, then you may first benefit from liposuction to reduce overall size. If, on the contrary, you want larger buttocks with more projection, then you might be better served with a butt implant or fat injection to the buttocks. Implants or fat injections will fill out the butt and lift the buttocks. However, if your buttocks are sagging, but you do not want an augmentation, your butt can be lifted by removing tissue and tightening skin. If the sag is minimal, then a “butt wedge” excision might be indicated. The tissue is excised at the buttock crease and leaves a relatively unnoticeable scar.

Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift surgery removes excess skin and fat from the thighs. The goal of the procedure is to improve the appearance of your thighs by removing the “dimpled look” produced by cellulite. Many of our patients have lost a significant amount of weight, which can leave excess skin at the top of the thighs. Others have lost elasticity because of aging.

Ideal candidates for thigh lift surgery are physically and emotionally healthy, maintain a stable weight and do not smoke. You should also have realistic expectations of the results, as thigh lifts are not a substitute for weight loss.

Upper Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Upper Arm Lift is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm. With age, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Significant weight loss can also result in hanging skin under the arm.

Upper arm lift surgery is best suited for people who are in relatively good shape but have loose upper arm skin or have a significant amount of upper arm fat that will not respond to dieting or exercise. This may also be due to genetics.

Body Lift

Body Lift provides the most dramatic transformation of the mid and lower body. It is truly a “resculpting” of the abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks. Broken into its components, the lower body lift includes a tummy tick, a thigh lift and a buttock lift.

The body lift procedure is performed on post-bariatric patients who have excess skin because of massive weight loss. However, results can also be dramatic for individuals of normal, stable weight. For example, some of our tummy tuck patients choose to undergo a body lift to tighten the skin on their thighs and buttocks, as well as their bellies.
